Eden’s commitment to Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion

Our country is amid a monumental movement as tragic events have shed light on the tremendous change we need to make in order to create a just, equitable, and welcoming country for all people, particularly the Black community. Eden strongly supports the Black Lives Matter movement. Immediately following recent tragic events Eden responded by offering our services at cost to businesses damaged during peaceful protests. We knew this wasn’t going to be enough. Our Company’s mission is to create a better place to work, for everyone. To truly live this we had to look internally and create a plan to create a more diverse and inclusive company and product.

Together we formed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Taskforce made up of a diverse group of employees from all levels, departments, and geographies throughout Eden. This group has spent the last three months designing a thorough strategy to help drive us forward and further develop ways to better execute our mission. Everyone at Eden is proud to be a part of this movement and to share our plan and progress publicly.

Diversity. Equity. Inclusion. (DEI)

These principles are foundational to our success and longevity as a company. By embodying these principles we will realize our company’s mission to create a better place to work, authentically live our values, create better performing and more creative teams, and realize commercial success.  Our principles should be brought to the forefront of how we approach talent, from supporting our employees with professional growth to cultivating the future leaders of our organization. DEI should be woven into the very DNA of our culture, so that all employees are empowered and celebrated - that they can bring their true, authentic self to work each and every day.

We believe in creating a workspace that values and respects diversity of identity, experience, and point of view to enhance our overall experience for employees, partners, customers, and communities. Our DEI commitment and strategic efforts will be instrumental in attracting and retaining top talent, as well as strengthening our ability to innovate. At Eden, we aim to create a truly inclusive environment where everyone belongs and thrives.

Accountability

Eden’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force, chaired by our Vice President, People, has been designated to drive Eden’s equal employment opportunity and affirmative action efforts. This task force has the full support of Eden’s CEO and leadership team in implementing and executing our programs, measuring and reporting our progress, and identifying ways to improve. This task force will report progress semi-annually to Eden’s Board of Directors.

What is Diversity?

The unique characteristics and backgrounds that help create a rich culture. For purposes of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, efforts are focused on increasing underrepresented populations that are aligned to EEOC Regulations including but not limited to race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, military status, disability status, and sexual orientation.

Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Mission

At Eden, we are committed to creating a truly inclusive and vibrant culture where all people, identities and experiences are celebrated, empowered & respected. We aim to create a space that enhances the overall employee experience by creating moments of belonging for all.

Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vision

In order for us to successfully build a DEI strategy, we must bring DEI to the forefront of how we approach talent attraction, hiring, on-boarding & development.

Recruiting with Purpose

Our Inclusion Recruiting strategy will revolve around creating a truly inclusive process where the best possible candidate can rise. This starts with representation. At least one candidate from an underrepresented population or group must be present at each stage of the interview process before an offer can be extended. The viability of these candidates will be vetted by recruiting to ensure the integrity of talent calibration and basic qualifications.

We plan on mitigating bias in the Job Description process by ensuring inclusive verbiage is used throughout in addition to a company approved Job Description template. In addition, we plan to partner closely with the business to ensure we set realistic and justifiable basic qualifications so that all talent is calibrated equally.

We will intentionally modify and expand our sourcing strategy to be inclusive of diverse identifiers as well as build partnerships with staffing agencies that have a strong diversity program.

We will work on ensuring we expand and diversify the platforms we leverage to share job openings including but not limited to job search engines, job boards, diversity platforms, and the like.

Hiring managers will build an interviewing team based on our diversity plan.

Internships

We will evaluate the structure of our existing internship program and make enhancements that are aligned with our overarching DEI Commitment. We will build long-lasting partnerships with Coding Academies as well as Trade Schools to diversify our talent pipelines.

Education

We will invest in providing ongoing diversity education for our employees. We understand that the one-time unconscious bias training doesn’t cut it, meaningful change takes time. We will offer at least four diversity-focused training sessions each year to our employees.

Product

We are committed to better serving our diversity owned partners and communities. We will make product enhancements to achieve this, including enabling customer filtering by Black and LGBTQ+ owned businesses so they can set and realize DEI spend goals.

Community

We provide financial and paid time off support for our employees to give back to underrepresented communities. As of July 2020, we have committed to matching at lease $5,000 annually for donation matching to non-profit organizations that support diverse communities. All full-time employees are given two paid community service days each year to give back to the community.
